Structural Steel Fabricator / Plater

HVAC Recruitment are currently working with a well-established structural steel fabrication business in Buckley who are looking to strengthen their workshop team due to a busy and growing workload.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced fabricators, platers or welders with structural steel experience to join a modern and well-equipped fabrication facility producing high-quality steelwork packages across the UK.
The business operates across the full steel lifecycle – design, fabrication, coating, transport and installation – and has recently invested heavily in new technology and advanced fabrication equipment.
The Role
You will be responsible for carrying out all stages of structural steel fabrication, working from detailed engineering drawings to produce high-quality steel assemblies to required tolerances.
Duties will include:

Interpreting engineering drawings (Tekla or similar)

Marking out, cutting and preparing steel components
-
Fitting and assembling structural steel sections
-
Tack welding and completing fabrication work
-
Ensuring work is completed to structural quality standards

Checking work against drawings and company quality procedures

Completing quality documentation where required

Maintaining high standards of workshop housekeeping
-
Carrying out daily checks on equipment prior to use

Following safe working practices and company procedures
You will work closely with the wider fabrication team to ensure production targets are achieved while maintaining high standards of workmanship and attention to detail.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for individuals who take real pride in their work and have experience working within a structural steel fabrication environment.
Ideally candidates will have:

Experience working as a Fabricator, Plater or Welder in structural steel

Ability to read engineering or Tekla drawings
-
Experience marking out and assembling steel components
-
MIG welding experience (structural steel)
-
Strong attention to detail and quality standards
-
Good reliability and work ethic
-
Ability to work effectively within a team environment
Experience using overhead gantry cranes would be advantageous but is not essential.
Working Hours
Morning Shift
Monday – Friday | 06:00 – 14:00
Afternoon Shift
Monday – Thursday | 14:00 – 00:00
Overtime is regularly available and paid at time and a half, including Saturday shifts.
