You will act as the main commercial and contractual contact for the client, working closely with the Lead Project Manager to protect the company’s commercial position and ensure the project is managed in line with NEC requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established specialist contractor delivering complex demolition, decommissioning and remediation projects across the UK.

The role

  • Act as the main commercial and contractual contact for the client.
  • Administer the contract in line with NEC principles and procedures.
  • Manage CEMAR records, including early warnings, compensation events and contractual communications.
  • Prepare and negotiate valuations, variations and final accounts.
  • Produce accurate cost forecasts, cash-flow information and commercial reports.
  • Monitor project costs, commercial risks and overall financial performance.
  • Manage subcontractor valuations, payments and commercial performance.
  • Support the Lead Project Manager with commercial decisions and project risk.
  • Build strong working relationships with the client, subcontractors and wider project team.
  • Ensure all commercial activity complies with contractual, legal and company requirements.

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related subject.
  • A minimum of three years’ commercial experience working on NEC contracts.
  • Strong knowledge of CEMAR or a similar contract-management system.
  • Experience working on major infrastructure, civil engineering, demolition or decommissioning projects.
  • Strong experience with valuations, compensation events, forecasting and final accounts.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and analytical skills.
  • A commercially focused and highly organised approach.
  • The confidence to work independently and represent the business in client-facing situations.

Membership of, or progress towards membership of, RICS, ICES or CIOB would be advantageous.

Why join DSM?

  • Permanent opportunity on a major long-term project.
  • Genuine ownership of the project’s commercial function.
  • Opportunity to work on a complex and technically challenging scheme.
  • Join an established UK demolition and decommissioning contractor with a strong reputation for quality, innovation and health and safety.
  • Work closely with an experienced project-management and delivery team.

The role may require occasional travel to DSM’s Birmingham head office. Flexibility will also be required to maintain appropriate commercial coverage across the project.
